Katia Bodard, our new board member

Welcome Katia!

Katia Bodard is Group Data Protection Officer of Infrabel and TUC RAIL. She holds the role of Data Protection Officer for both companies.

Infrabel is the infrastructure manager of the Belgian railway network, being responsible for its maintenance, modernisation, expansion and management. For its major infrastructure works, it relies on its engineering office TUC RAIL, which specialises in railway technology. TUC RAIL conducts the feasibility studies, draws up the technical plans and carries out the works.

Her professional background is mainly in the legal sector. Katia studied law and worked as a lawyer and then took up various positions as a legal advisor/corporate lawyer in various companies and organisations. In parallel, she sought deepening mainly as a scientific researcher and lecturer in academia. An important part of her research work focused on the intersection between law and IT, and as policy manager at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), she was also involved in global corporate coordination on internet governance and ICT policy issues, and cybersecurity policy issues for many years.

Katia Bodard is Group Data Protection Officer van Infrabel en TUC RAIL. Ze vervult de rol van Data Protection Officer voor beide bedrijven.

Infrabel is de infrastructuurbeheerder van het Belgisch spoorwegnet, en is daarbij verantwoordelijk voor het onderhoud, modernisering, uitbreiding en beheer ervan. Voor haar grote infrastructuurwerken doet zij beroep op haar studiebureau TUC RAIL gespecialiseerd in spoorwegtechnologie. TUC RAIL realiseert hiervoor de haalbaarheidsstudies, stelt de technische plannen op en voert de werkzaamheden uit.

Haar professionele achtergrond situeert zich vooral in de juridische sector. Katia heeft rechten gestudeerd en heeft gewerkt als advocaat en vervolgens diverse functies als juridisch adviseur/bedrijfsjurist opgenomen in verschillende bedrijven en organisaties. Verdieping zocht ze parallel vooral als wetenschappelijk onderzoeker en docent in de academische wereld. Een belangrijke deel van haar onderzoekswerk was gericht op het snijvlak tussen recht en IT, en als policy manager bij de Internationale Kamer van Koophandel (ICC) was ze ook jarenlang betrokken bij de wereldwijde bedrijfscoördinatie inzake internetbeheer en ICT-beleidskwesties, en cybersecurity policy issues.

Bienvenue Katia!

Katia Bodard est déléguée à la protection des données du groupe Infrabel et TUC RAIL. Elle remplit le rôle de délégué à la protection des données pour les deux entreprises.

Infrabel est le gestionnaire de l’infrastructure du réseau ferroviaire belge, dont elle assure l’entretien, la modernisation, l’extension et la gestion. Pour ses grands travaux d’infrastructure, elle s’appuie sur son bureau d’études TUC RAIL, spécialisé dans la technologie ferroviaire. TUC RAIL réalise les études de faisabilité, élabore les plans techniques et exécute les travaux.

Son parcours professionnel s’inscrit principalement dans le secteur juridique. Katia a étudié le droit et a travaillé comme avocate, puis a occupé divers postes de conseillère juridique/juriste d’entreprise dans différentes sociétés et organisations. Parallèlement, elle a cherché à approfondir ses connaissances principalement en tant que chercheuse scientifique et conférencière dans le monde universitaire. Une partie importante de ses travaux de recherche a porté sur l’intersection entre le droit et les technologies de l’information. En tant que responsable des politiques à la Chambre de commerce internationale (ICC), elle a également participé pendant de nombreuses années à la coordination mondiale des entreprises sur les questions de gouvernance de l’internet et de politique ICT, ainsi que sur les questions de politique en matière de cybersécurité.
